A breve i diari di scavo
Today was our final day of excavation. We cleaned the entirety of Sector A and the Western Extension, then took final points for GIS around the site. We cleaned the area around the site for pictures, and laid out all labels in the area for the full-area picture. Tomorrow, we will be laying the tarps down over the entire site and preparing to secure it until the next field season.
Today, we started with a lecture on GIS by Dr. Francesco Coschino and Taylor Zaneri. They discussed the main concepts and basic technologies involved with GIS. Deborah Camotti and Gisella Pisana introduced their database management of skeletal and material remains of the site. Additionally, Taylor discussed the application of GIS through her research at a monastery in France. Then, we went to the site and finished removing the bones on burials 6130 and 6119. Then, we return to the school for the GIS portion of the exam.
