Resoconto della giornata di scavo

Area 6000

Area 6000/A - In the southeast area, we began to remove the scattered bones overlying the articulated individual. In doing so, we are attempting to establish a minimum number of individuals associated with the reduced bones. Based upon the removal of three tibia, all from the same side, there are at least three individuals. In the southwest area, we continued to further expose the bones of the individual with a potential pathology. An area of interest arose where the clavicle was found in a strange position going deep within the dirt. Further exposure with hopefully provide more information tomorrow. In the northwest area, we started by filling out a skeletal context sheet for the most recent burial. Then we began the removal of the individual, which proves to be very difficult due to the state of preservation. In the northeast area, we lowered the western base of the grave in attempts to expose more of the juvenile individual. Many scattered and fragmented bones were exposed, but there is no yet concrete evidence as to whether or not they belong to the juvenile.

Area 6000/B - Today we cleaned off the exposed vertebrae and ribs from 6242. Inside the 6242 burial, we cut into the wall more to begin looking for the humoral head. We also worked on the lithium tomb by exposing more of the scattered bones, including an exposed tibia. In 6251, we began the removal process. Both feet were removed as well as left tibia and right fibula and tibia. The cranium and mandible were also removed. Right ribs, hand, ulna, the left radius and humerus, and both clavicles were removed. We began the removal of the left ribs and vertebrae. In 6240, the tarsals were removed and the grave was expanded to find phalanges of the remains. An out line of the tibia and exposure of tibia was made.

Area 7000

Oggi abbiamo completato lo scavo di US 7029 e US 7031.
