Area 6000

Nella porzione settentrionale dopo aver completato la rimozone dell'individuo USK 6567 abbiamo iniziato con la messa in luce di un altro individuo, USK 6582, orientato NW-SE e deposto in decubito dorsale immediatamente a sud-ovest di USK 6567. Più a sud-est si è proceduto con la rimozione dei resti scheletrici degli inumati USK 6562 e USK 6564, che si intercettano a sud della tomba a cassa litica USM 6123. Lungo il limite occidentale del settore lo scavo del riempimento US 6561 sta mettendo in luce le ossa in connessione anatomica di un individuo complessivamente mal preservato, orientato W-E, la cui porzione superiore del corpo prosegue al di sotto della sezione.

Northwest corner: Continued exposing the individual 6559: femora, tibias and right fibula, left and right lower arm bones, right humerus, left and right ribs, vertebral column, pelvis, feet, and left hand have been identified. Filled out the context sheet for cut -6557.  

Today a new serious was identified cutting the previous individuals serious in the northern quarter. A humerus, os coxae, and lower arm bones were exposed. Two women were exposed and removed from a separate burial. They were not articulated.

6000 south

Work continues inside the USM 6062 tomb, along the northern edge of the southern sector of the area. The current level, US 6286, appears to be defined by the strong presence of unconnected bones along the margins and some in connection with the center. This situation would describe a case of reduction close to a primary burial, probably the original individual for whom the chest tomb itself was built. On the eastern side, a probable second individual continues to be present at the bottom of the chest tomb USM 3047 not directly intercepted by it (therefore previous) and cut from the southern portion of the 12th century abbey facade.

We are continuing to excavate the skeleton cut by the walls, and there have not been any new finds. However, we have found more ribs that are in better condition than expected. 

In the eastern most section of the lithic tomb, there was a large portion of reduction found along the U shape of the tomb. This includes many long bones, a vertebral column, a cranium, and a scapula that is is very good condition. The mandible at the other end of the tomb is suspected to be the next burial as an orange clay.

Area 7000

Oggi abbiamo completato lo scavo dell'ultima delle fosse di spoliazione che insistono sulla superficie dell'area di scavo. Questa, chiamata US -7108, è orientata in senso N-S per una larghezza di circa 35 cm e conservata per una profondità di circa 15 cm. Una volta rimossa, abbiamo messo in evidenza una concentrazione di pietre di medie e piccole dimensioni nella sua porzione più meridionale, anch'esse orientate N-S seguendo quelli che sembrano due filari distinti. Non si idividua nessun tipo di legante tra gli elementi litici, il che fa dubitare della natura di questa "struttura". Continua inoltre lo scavo della fornace, la quale presenta sul fondo di questo livello un anello di argilla termotrasformata e materiale combusto. I nuovi dati ci spingono a pensare che si possa trattare di una nuova attività metallurgica legata alla fusione di una campana in bronzo.

The southern trench - which runs south to north - continued to be excavated; with finds of pottery, glazed brick, and a couple of nails. The furnace was excavated further as well, with findings of bronze.
