Resoconto della giornata di scavo

Area 6000

North sector

In the Northern Sector, the removal of the skeletal remains of the individual USK 6531, oriented WE and completed in dorsal decubitus within the sepulchral trench US - 6530, in the south-eastern portion of the sector was completed. Immediately to the north we proceeded with the removal of the left upper limb of USK 6543, intercepted by US - 6530. In the northern portion of the sector, north of the USM 6123 stone lithic tomb, excavation of the US 6509 at silt-clay matrix of brown and yellow color, which covers the skeletal remains of an adult individual in anatomical connection, which will be highlighted in the coming days.

Today cranium of US6530 was removed along with remainder of cervical vertebrae. The cut was exposed. Bones within the cut were exposed further. Continued work on miscellaneous skeletal elements found near the east border of the cut. Removed humerus, ulna, radius, carpals, and a few metacarpals of US6543. Cut was defined.

Continued to expose the lower leg bones. Exposed the tarsals and partially exposed the metatarsals. Left fibula and right patella remain unexposed. Took a charcoal sample from the area directly overlying the middle of the left tibia. Continued to expose the os coxa and the femoral heads. Outline of metacarpals and phalanges exposed on left side, placed on top of os coxae. On right side overlying os coxae small turquoise colored sediment exposed, thought to be soil staining from oxidized (?) metal [possibly from tip of rosary]. Ventral surface of lumbar and cervical portions of vertebral column beginning to be exposed. Continued removing rocks from thoracic area, looking to expose more fully the vertebral column and ribs. Mandible identified by the dislodging of two incisors [location suggests cranium may be placed in a lateral position].

In 6000 S, the lithic tomb was clean out of the remaining miscellany unarticulated bones. There was nothing underneath them aside from a layer of orange clay which is suspected to be the bottom of the tomb.

6000S

We worked on uncovering more of the burial remains of the articulated skeleton and the disarticulated remains. The disarticulated remains appear to be redacted. In burial 6269, we worked on excavating the ribs, and on finding more bone. We found part of what appears to be a pelvis.

Area 7000
